Hon. Kolade Victor Akinjo, a frontline People’s Democratic Party (PDP) aspirant for the 2024 Ondo gubernatorial election has urged Christians in the state and the country at large to reflect on the reason for the season by showing love, forgiveness and compassion to one another.
The former lawmaker, who hailed from Itebukunmi community in Ilaje LGA, Ondo state reminded Christians that without deep reflection on the central theme of love and sacrifice, Easter will amount to a mere hollow ritual.
In his Easter message, Hon. Kolade Akinjo charged Christians across the country to imbibe the exemplary life of love, selflessness, sacrifice and forgiveness which Christ demonstrated in His death, burial and resurrection for the redemption of mankind.
“As Christians, Easter presents to us the opportunity to a deep reflection, a time to carry out a soul-searching to embody that which Christ came and died for”.
“His resurrection reminds us of the triumph of good over evil, light over darkness, love and compassion over hate. It is not a time only to engage in wild and elaborate celebration but a time to give our lives meaningful direction and opportunity to close ranks, no matter our differences and circumstances”.
“With political parties preparing for the 2024 Gubernatorial primaries in Ondo state, Hon. Akinjo, appealed to the people of Ondo state to embrace lasting peace, love and warmth of friendship and eschew hatred and bigotry, which Christ preached against before paying the ultimate price on the cross.
According to him, “Whoever you are, don’t forget you are part of God’s plan, if you accept that Christ died for you and rose again. Show love, maintain peace and by His grace and mercy, all will be well with our nation”.
