The intensive training programme, scheduled to hold from December 1 to 15, 2026, will equip participants with practical skills in footwear design, cutting, stitching, finishing and small business management.

Under the initiative, 70 slots have been reserved for female participants and 30 for male participants, reflecting the organisation’s commitment to gender inclusion and women’s economic empowerment.

According to the organisers, the programme is designed to equip young Nigerians with a marketable skill that requires relatively low start-up capital and offers opportunities for self-employment and income generation.

Speaking on the initiative, the Coordinator Okala Okezie Gentle said, the programme was part of the organisation’s commitment to preparing young people to take advantage of economic opportunities through practical skills acquisition.

“Our slogan is ‘Preparation Meets Opportunities!’ We are preparing our youths with practical skills so they can seize economic opportunities. Sandals and slippers production is a viable business every youth can start from home.

The organisation disclosed that registration for the free training is ongoing, urging interested youths to visit its registration centre for documentation.

The training will run daily from 12 noon to 6 p.m., while the venue for the practical sessions is expected to be announced later.

The initiative also called on well-meaning Nigerians, corporate organisations, footwear manufacturers, leather suppliers and development partners to support the programme through sponsorships and the provision of training materials, tools and start-up kits.

It said such support would help beneficiaries establish their businesses after completing the training and sustain their livelihoods.
