The All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate for Rivers State in the 2027 general election, Rt. Hon. Ogundu Kingsley Chinda, has pledged to govern the state with the fear of God if elected governor on May 29, 2027.

Chinda made the pledge at the unveiling of candidates of the Rainbow Coalition at Yakubu Gowon Stadium, Elekahia, Port Harcourt, where party faithful and supporters gathered in large numbers.

The governorship candidate said the coalition was committed to building a government of unity that would promote peace, inclusion and development while avoiding rancour, division and what he described as a zero-sum approach to political entitlement.

He expressed confidence in the coalition’s platform, which brings together political structures from different parties, and said its candidates would work collectively towards their political objectives in the 2027 elections.

Chinda also commended the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, for his role in developing the Rainbow Coalition initiative, describing it as a bipartisan political arrangement aimed at supporting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid, his own governorship ambition and other candidates contesting elective positions across the state.

He said peace and unity were essential to Rivers State’s development and called for a political environment that would encourage progress and strengthen social cohesion.

Earlier, party stalwarts highlighted what they described as benefits Rivers State had received under the Tinubu administration.

These included federal appointments, the establishment of the Federal University of Environment and the completion of the Bonny-Bodo Road, which they said had improved road access to Bonny Island.

The speakers urged supporters to sustain their political alliance ahead of the 2027 general election.

Governor Siminalayi Fubara also attracted attention when he appeared at the event to present flags to the coalition’s candidates, according to accounts from the gathering.

His appearance was accompanied by expressions of support for the candidates representing the participating political parties.

Fubara reportedly affirmed Wike’s position as the political leader of Rivers State, reinforcing the coalition’s message of unity among its supporters.
Wike, who was a central figure at the event, energised the crowd with his characteristic dance moves during musical interludes before

urging Rivers voters to support President Tinubu, Chinda and the coalition’s other candidates in the 2027 elections.

The FCT minister also called on Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidates nationwide to support Tinubu’s re-election bid.

The unveiling underscored the coalition’s efforts to consolidate support across political party lines ahead of the 2027 general election, with its leaders presenting unity and cooperation as central themes of their political platform.
