The Senate President, Senator Godswill Akpabio has felicitated with Nigerian women as they celebrate this year’s international Women’s Day.
On the theme inspire inclusion, the President of the Senate , Dr. Godswill Akpabio said although women representation in the Senate is low , but Nigeria senate will continue to promote the rights of women and girls in the Country.
The Senate President also assured that senators will make efforts to assure fair legislations supporting women right in Nigeria
Principal Officers of the Senate, other colleagues also joined Natasha Akpoti Uduaghan, Idiat Adebule, Ipalibo Harry Banigo and Ireti Kingibe to mark the women’s day celebration.
The Mace of Nigeria Senate was lowered to enable the senators to exit the chamber during plenary to cut the cake in honour of Nigerian Women in the Senate.
According to him, Nigeria Senate currently has 4 female legislators among the 109 Senators.
International women’s day is an annual celebration for women all over the world.
